Ryan Johnson
Ryan Johnson was born in Fort Collins, CO, went to school in Miami, tried living in Los Angeles and is now back in his hometown, dreaming about moving to slickrock country in Utah. He is, first and foremost, an idea man, addicted to possibility, and in love with writing and stories. And his wife.

By day, he writes advertisements and, as often as possible, plays with his girls. By night, he writes screenplays and continues settling down into his happy new role as family man. For Ryan, a good day includes time to write, think, read and nap; shared meals with family and friends; at least one pot of tea; belly laughs with Sydney, a good dog walk and, yes, a bit of snuggle time.

You can read more from Ryan and visit with the voices in his head here.

Alexa (Burcroff) Johnson
Alexa Johnson grew up in the Great Lakes region, and before moving West in 2006, she’d moved 28 times in 30 years. Change became her way of life, and she learned never to get too attached to anyone anywhere because someday soon, for reasons within or beyond her control, she’d be moving on. But, one day, she realized all that moving on wasn’t necessarily helping her move forward. Tired, broke and really rather alone, Alexa decided it was time to make way for something permanent in her life. So, she did the only thing she really knew how to do… she moved. This time, 1600 miles, to Fort Collins, CO. The place was calling to her. She knows now, it wasn’t the place. It was Ryan.

Alexa works as a freelance writer and marketing creative. By noon, she’s consulted with Annie and Sydney about the nature of the universe  at least 7 times. At 3pm, she’s scrounging for a cookie. And at 5:15, she’s looking for Ryan to come strolling up the walk, so they can spend their evening talking, walking and, occasionally (we have an infant, people), snuggling.

You can also visit with Alexa on Invisible Bees, her call to “find yourself in the garden.” (It’s on hiatus and will be undergoing a redesign sometime soon. Stay tuned.)

Sydney Olivia Johnson
Sydney was born on December 20, 2009 at 7:51PM. That makes her a Sagittarius on the cusp of Capricorn born in the year of the Ox on the eve of the Winter Solstice. She looks (and farts) like her father. Sometimes we call her Syd, Snuggle Bear, SOJo of NoCO, Snow Blossom, Sweet Pea, Sweetness, Syd Precious (as opposed to Sid Vicious) and Miss Thang. Someday she will like asparagus, legumes and plenty of garlic. We can’t wait to learn more from her and see how her life unfolds!

Miss Annie
Miss AnnieWe adopted Annie from the Boulder Valley Humane Society (BVHS) on September 1, 2007. She is a red-tick coonhound who was surrendered by a breeder who ran a puppy mill in Las Cruces, NM. Alexa spotted Annie’s profile online and fell in love. But, when Alexa called to place a hold on her, at that very instant, another family was adopting Annie. Alexa was heartbroken, but she had a feeling about Annie, so she kept watching BVHS’s adoptable dogs, and within a week Annie returned to the shelter. We went down to meet her and adopted her on the spot! She has a heart of gold, a head full of rocks and a mouth full of poop. We love her to pieces.
